Renato Dourado

Born and raised on a farm in João Dourado, Brazil, Renato has cultivated extensive experience in agricultural management and sustainable practices over the years. He has a strong foundation in growing and irrigation methods, particularly in areas affected by drought. Renato’s journey into Syntropic farming over the past five years has reshaped his approach to food production, emphasizing the restoration of native biomes and the importance of cultivating healthy, organic food.

At Engkanto Farm in Corona, CA, he managed a 1/3 acre urban farm, focusing on the production of seasonal vegetables and culinary herbs, along with raising chickens for egg production. Renato successfully implemented a Syntropic system that prioritizes medicinal and culinary plants, while also educating volunteers and community members about the benefits of this innovative farming method.

His largest agricultural venture yet was reinventing a 17 acre Southern California regenerative farm into multiple diverse food forest systems. Visit the gallery to see examples of this. These were created as a proof of concept that you can build systems with one main cash crop interplanted with hundreds of diverse trees and annuals and it only creates a stronger, more resilient crop. Renato is now consulting for multiple farms and homesteads to bring this type of natural food production to his community.
